From Puerto Plata, ride in an air-conditioned vehicle to Damajagua, hike 30 to 45 minutes through the forest, then jump, slide, and swim through up to eight waterfalls. Guides such as Sammy, Werbe, Felix, and Jordan lead the water section. Lunch and soft drinks follow.

“Driver and River guide were both great! Thanks guys. Could have done without the food and stop at a local shop but really no pressure to buy. Food was tasty although not a kid pleaser. Showing local plants was fun but coffee was too sweet with honey. Chocolate water with cinnamon was interesting but probably needed to offer an unsweetened option to really taste the ingredients if I was going to buy.”

2.Excursion in Damajagua’s 7 Waterfalls

Hike through rainforest to seven Damajagua waterfalls, then descend by swimming, sliding, and jumping under guide supervision. Santos, Luis, Alfredo, Felix, and other guides are praised for their care and humor. Expect a cool river, slippery rock, optional photos, and a strenuous uphill walk.

“We had a rainy day to start, but the views on our way up were still very nice. The guides were excellent and took very good care of us. I will warn you immediately: This is a very strenuous hike if you are out of shape. I am and I’m also from Florida now and forgot what it was like to climb up a mountain. I actually only got to the last falls. The others in my group continued to the top, but I didn’t make it, so one of the guides broke off and took me back down a bit and onto the trail people walk out on. It…”

Hike through Damajagua with bilingual guides such as Mara and Monkey, then swim, slide, and jump through a tropical canyon. The four-hour trip includes port pickup, helmets, life jackets, Wi-Fi, a Dominican buffet, drinks, and a short shopping or tasting stop.

“What a fantastic day! Just a heads-up: you’ll want sturdy water shoes or sneakers for the hike up to the waterfall. It’s about a 45-minute trek, and they do take a few breaks to rest, but the path is mostly made up of small rocks and pebbles. Wearing water shoes, it feels like you’re walking on the rocks with bare feet! On the way back, you’ll pass through some streams and more of the rocky path, where you’ll keep stepping on little rocks. When you arrive in the van, you leave everything in the van. You hike with just your bathing suit or shorts on. The adventure is a blast.…”

We had some stragglers in the group and he really made sure to take care of them. The waterfalls were very cool and sliding down them was amazing! The dune buggy ride was so much fun with all the mud, swimming at the beach and a great lunch of fried red snapper, tostones and salad. There was a photographer there that captured every experience.”

“zeer fijne tour Guido, chauffeur en fotograaf van Runners'adv maar de watervallen zelf waren heel beperkt. Men sprak over 7 a 12 maar bleken 4tal. Geen uitleg waarom het er zo weinig waren. Wel vriendelijke en behulpzame gidsen. Er was een te grote groep aanwezig. De lunch was lekker en eenvoudig. Het marktje was ok, mooi vakmanschap. Vriendelijke bediening.”

“It's really fun. Lunch is so good. Tour guides were amazing. Really it's 5 stars. The only thing is that naming of the tour is ambiguous. You're not seeing 27 waterfalls. You're seeing waterfalls in a park called "27 Waterfalls". Just something to tame your expectations. It's still worth the money though.”

“This was absolutely amazing! We started at the Monkey Home. This was really well run and offered lots of space and enrichment for the monkeys (we've been to some other places that were pretty depressing). There was tons of interaction with the monkeys and they were super cute. Next we went to the waterfall. This was a once in a lifetime experience but be warned -- the hike to the top is NO JOKE. The guide stopped regularly so we could rest, but it was definitely a challenge. That said, wading through the canyons and sliding down the rock slides was amazing. Thanks to our guide Jerry!”
