“I'm glad to have visited these 2 places, they are beautiful and interesting. The only con in this trip is the tour operator not being flexible enough to pick us up at our hotel lobby. We had to go all the way to the front entrance, which is inconvenient to us.”

3.Saona Island & Altos de Chavon Day Trip with Lunch and Open Bar

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 332 reviews · from $99

Spend a long day visiting Altos de Chavon, a recreated Mediterranean village, then ride to Saona Island by speedboat and catamaran. Guides such as Benjamin, Danny Boy, Henry, and Cesar lead the outing, which includes lunch, drinks, a natural pool stop, hotel transport, and music.

“We loved the village and the island, true paradise. My only two reasons for giving 4 stars is this is a whole day experience and you only get food at lunch which makes the day even longer. Make sure to take some water and some snacks to keep you going unless you can go without food for quite a while. Secondly the constant pressure to give tips like 5-6 times throughout the day was not to our liking. We actually ran out of cash in the end and couldn't give any to the bus driver which we thought was unpolite but couldn't do anything about it. So make sure you…”

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 4 reviews · 9 hours · from $125

Travel from Punta Cana or Bávaro to the Cave of Wonders and Altos de Chavón with English or Spanish guides. Alex has led recent tours with clear explanations and thoughtful service. Expect cave formations, Taino archaeology, iguanas, lunch by the river, museums, and a Tuscan-style village.

“Alex our guide was excellent. The communication with the tour operator was great. We learned about the history of the Taino, Alto de Chevon, Cave of wonders. The tour had a good pace and Alex was very accommodating. At one point, we saw a restaurant in the Alto and asked if we could have lunch there instead of the scheduled place. They went out of their way to accommodate us. One of the guides took others to the scheduled lunch place and one stayed with us so that we eventually caught up with them to continue the tour. Was a beautiful and a very informative day. Definitely recommend them.”
